Chatham Village combines the charm of an English country village with the convenience of modern urban living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in 1932, Chatham Village was designated a National Historic Landmark by the United States Secretary of the Interior in 2005. This quiet retreat from the bustle of city life boasts nearly 26 acres of natural woodland.

A Nominations Committee has been established and will be Chaired by Betty Eggert, 658 Pennridge Road. Pat Standring, 623 Olympia Road, will be assisting her on the Committee. If you would like more information you should contact Joe Massarelli in the office. You may click here to read more about the open positions.

We want to let you know how generous your Neighbors have been with their contributions to the CVH Charitable Trust since the Trust was established.  Below is a list of the items Members and others have contributed to the Trust and whom we thank so very much for their generous and thoughtful donations!! Click here for details.

Fellow Villagers: My name is Peter Capell. I have been a lifelong resident of Chatham Village, wherein thirty-eight of those years has been spent on my avocation: Chinese Martial Arts.
For the past eighteen and a half years, I have been the student and disciple of Zhang Yun in several internal arts and most importantly Taijiquan (aka, “Tai Chi”). It appears that Chatham Village is now a “Tai Chi Rich” locale in Pittsburgh since we already have the magic of longtime master Stan Swartz. In writing to you all, I am testing the waters to see how many of you may also be interested in Wu Style Taijiquan. Wu Style has some distinct qualities from Yang, and in particular our group has preserved the martial aspect of this form. If you think you might be interested, I ask that you write to me at: pcapell@gmail .com You may also read up on our group called Yin Cheng Gong Fa (ycgf) atwww.ycgf.com and you may wish to read about our Dashi Wang Peisheng:http://www.ycgf.org/WPS_Eulogy/WPS_Eulogy.html

If I am able to find a consistent five participants, I will pursue obtaining time at the Club House – probably on Tuesday evenings. The price per session will be $8.00 should I be able to find enough attendees to offset the cost of using the Club. Thank you.

Many thanks to Polly Mills-Whitehorn, Joyce Dodge, and Barbara Miller for the lovely winter and community photos of our CV grounds on our website photo slide show (above). Also, thank you, Chas Cwenar, for the historic video now posted on our History tabs and the Photos page.
We regret to announce the passing of long-time Village resident, Dr. Norman Samways. Norm had been a resident since 1961. He was a metallurgist for J & L Steel and was also interested in geology and history. He had other interests, too: in the early spring, when the daffodils bloom in the woodlands alongside Pennridge Road, I will think of Norm, for it was he who was responsible for planting many of them long ago. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
For those wanting to share in the legacy of Chatham Hall, the Club Board has put together a “storyboard” wish list of items needed to enhance the interior of the building. The “storyboard“ is located in the CV office and has pictures and descriptions of items needed to refurbish the parlor. Please stop by to see if there is something you may want to consider donating, whether a whole item or a partial donation towards a particular item, with tax deductible monies paid to the Charitable Trust designated for the Clubhouse.
